Drawing and Painting

The British countryside with its ancient, gnarled trees; rolling hills
and magical woodland has been my absorbing passion and a source of endless fascination.

I am happiest working out of doors.

My prefered medium is drawing (pencil, graphite, inks etc.); although oils, water-colour and egg-tempera have all contributed to my work and continue to do so.

Line drawing is for me a vital means of expression. The reduction of a complex landscape/tree to it's most basic linear structure.

I am driven by the power and beauty of a single line.

Magdalen College, Oxford
Among the College's new possessions is a "French" harpsichord, made by Robert Goble & Sons of Headington, Oxford, and decorated by Sue Cave. The Magdalen harpsichord had been made possible through the generosity of Michael Deeny (C1963 - 66) and Chris Cheetham (Fellow of Examination 1966-68) from the estate of his late mother, Mrs J.C.Cheetham.
It is used both in Chapel services and for recitals, where it tends to be moved to the Auditorium.
