Biography

Sue Cave trained at Grimsby School of Art and Kingston-on-Thames College of Art and Design. On completing a BA Hons in Fine Art, she moved ­to Oxford and has lived and worked in Oxfordshire ever since.

Higher Education

  • 1967-1969: Grimsby School of Art
  • 1969-1972: BA Fine Art, Kingston-on-Thames Colege of Art and Design
  • 1971: won the Hilden Travel award and travelled to Egypt

 

Commissions

  • 1973: Commission for a mural/painting for Grimsby Parish Church
  • 1974: Commissioned to paint a clavicord for Mrs Robert Goble
  • 1976: Commissioned to paint a harpsichord lid and soundboard (The Dreaming Spires) for Robert Goble & Son, Oxford (exhibited at the Early Music Festival, London, and Bruges International Early Music Festival)
  • 1979: Malvern Hills & Priory harpsichord lid and soundboard
  • 1984: Rousham Gardens harpsichord lid and soundboard
  • 2000: Commissioned to paint a new harpsichord for Magdalen College, Oxford
  • 2006: Commissioned by Robert Gilchrist to decorate a harpsichord case (based on Italian seventeenth century instrument

Ink drawings printed in a number of private press publications, including Simon Rae's Calendar (Redlake Press, 1990) and Listening to the Lake (Previous Parrot Press, 1993)
